PE at Nevill Road Junior School

At Nevill Road Junior School we intend to provide children with a high-quality physical education curriculum which inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. We believe all children can achieve in PE, and teach for secure and deep understanding of skills for a variety of sports and activities in manageable steps. We have the same high expectations for all learners, including those with SEND in PE.  The attached provision map shows what maths looks like for all leaners at Nevill Road Junior School.  We aim to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.

We aim for all pupils to:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities.
  • be physically active for sustained periods of time.
  • be fit and healthy and understand the importance of this for their physical and mental well-being.
  • engage in competitive sports and activities.

Nevill Road Juniors have swept the board bringing away 8 trophies in total, at the Stockport School's 'Going for Gold' awards 2018. We have also been crowned the winning school of the Go for Gold Challenge and recently won the Stockport School's Award for commitment to PE and Sport. The school was also a finalist in the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.  We are increadibly proud of these achievements and would like to say a huge thank you to the staff, parents and all the children who have made this possible.
